ABOUT

Midnight Soul
2023

The second year of The Midnight Soul Film Festival is a event that strives to show the imagination and beauty of North Scandinavia in perpetual night illuminated by The Aurora Borialas. Refreshingly intimate for a festival of its size and scope, the event combines a range of marquee premieres, international competitions, compelling documentaries, new digital media work, live music performances, and star-studded red carpet events.

Midnight Soul is currently moving forward with planning its Festival for January 2023 as a hybrid in-person and online event, in accordance with all active health and safety recommendations from local officials. Exact dates, venue footprint, and in-person event structure are all subject to change based on the realities of producing a safe and accessible film festival at that time.

Below is our successfully completed program from 2022. Have a look at what people thought.

But one day new opportunities opened up for her: she got a job as a church musician in the North of Sweden, in Swedish Lapland. Now sounds music from the Russian balalaika, in old church in Arjeplog, but Natalia must also play on a new, unusual instrument for her - the organ.
Two other important characters in the film are the nature of Norrland, especially the harsh Nordic weather conditions, and the music that unites people's souls, that plays a major role in the portrayal of Natalia's character.
